What Keller requires, in plain English

Permits start at 8 feet. Every new fence needs one, and so does replacing 8 linear feet or more of an existing fence. There's no fee for replacement fences, and every fence gets a final inspection when it's done.
Smooth side out. A wood fence next to a street or alley has to have its hardware facing in and the smooth side facing the street.
Major roads have their own standard. A privacy fence along one of Keller's thoroughfares has to be cedar, with posts set in concrete, a top cap and a kickboard, and the whole fence sealed.
No wood next to parks, trails or drainage. Lots that back onto a park, trail, open or common space, or a drainage easement need wrought iron or tubular steel on that line.
